March 20 is only the first day of spring. In New York, is also Macaron Day, where at least 11 bakeries throughout the city will be handing out free macarons.

As noted www.macarondaynyc.com, macarons are the "cupcake again." What is so tasty on macarons? For starters, the classic French pastry has become less forgiving than a muffin, but the taste of caramel, coffee, ginger, pistachios, raspberries are sweet enough for any solution of sugar.

First Annual New York Macaron Day coincides with the fifth edition of the Jour du Macaron in Paris. So far, participating stores in Manhattan include Bouchon Bakery at Columbus Circle and Macaron Cafe, a little sweet in the Garment District is selling his namesake for the treatment of $ 1.95 per piece.
